Blue Sky Sunrays Women’s Semi-Pro Team Takes the Field Saturday March 20th

Saturday, March 20th, marks the start of a new season for the Blue Sky Sunrays, the women’s indoor Semi-Pro Soccer team that won the championship last summer in the inaugural season.  This season finds the Sunrays looking to defend their championship against five other teams in the league from Austin, Rockwall and Keller.  New to the league this season is the team from Rockwall and the Blue Sky Sunfire out of Keller, Texas.
This season’s Sunrays sport a roster that is mostly intact from the summer season with just a few new additions.  Returning for the Sunrays is Golden Boot winner, Marilyn Rodriguez, who was first in the league with 11 goals last season.  Also returning and joining Marilyn on the pitch is Teresa Eamma who was named Co-Defensive player of the league last season.  In addition to these two players the team will have 7 returning players from the roster of last summer along with 8 new players to the team.  In a scrimmage held Saturday, March 13th against the Blue Sky Sunfire team from Keller, the Sunrays displayed the skill, speed and teamwork that was their signature last season during their undefeated season and eventual championship win.
Come join us this Saturday, March 20th, at 4:00pm at Blue Sky Sports Center to watch the Sunrays take on FC Austin as they start down the road to retaining their title as the Champions of the WISL.  Tickets are on sale now and are $4 for adults and $2 for children (ages 5 through 12) if purchased before game day.  On game day the ticket prices will be $5 and $3 respectively.
